Kyudo - Way of the Bow 1930s
“The Yumi (Japanese Bow) is an asymmetrical longbow over two metres in height that is traditionally made of bamboo, wood and leather, while the Ya (arrows) of this period have bamboo shafts with eagle or hawk feather fletchings. Practiced for centuries as both a Gendai budo (Martial Art) and a form of Zen meditation, the sport of Kyudo is still widely taught throughout Japan.” (by Blue Ruin1)

Gates of the Spring Snow 1953
“Gates of the Spring Snow (春雪の門) staring Ayako Wakao and Fujiko Yamamoto is an action-romance film directed by Kozo Saeki in 1953. The plot revolves around a love triangle between a Judo student, the daughter of an aristocratic family (Fujiko Yamamoto) and a young geisha (Ayako Wakao), set during the last year of the Meiji period (1912).” (by Blue Ruin1)
